It's
All About the Pine Barrens!
Cloverdale
Farm County Park, Barnegat NJ
In
Late 2004, the Ocean County Natural Lands Trust purchased the 80
acre tract of land known as Cloverdale Road Farm in Barnegat. This
property is tucked away off West Bay Avenue, and with the onslaught
of "adult communities" approved by the Pinelands Commission
in this eastern area of the Pine Barrens, is a much needed and appreciated
measure to assure conservation.
Once
a working cranberry farm, this area is a haven for nature lovers.
Wildflowers, birds and yes, even cranberries are here, all for great
photo opportunities. . . but remember to take nothing but photos,
leave nothing but footprints! (and cranberries, if you want to traverse
the bogs!)

Homestead
Ed. note: on March 1, 2010, this historic
building burned to the ground. Ocean County authentically reconstructed
the building and today it is open as an interpretive center.

Cloverdale
Farm is located on West Bay Avenue (Route 554), east of Route 72 and
west of the Garden State Parkway, at the end of Cloverdale Road in Barnegat,
which is just west of the traffic signal at West Bay Avenue and Mirage
Boulevard. (Don't "Google" it; the streets are mislabled!)
The Pine Barrens
is becoming a popular tourist destination. It offers history, nature, boating,
camping, fishing, swimming, and most of all, peace and tranquility. It's
important to families who live here, whether for a few years or many generations,
that our peace and tranquility be preserved.A local lawyer or doctor won't
look any different than his neighbor who works the land. Thousand dollar
suits aren't what impress people of the Pines - taking care of nature and
fellow man is what matters. To that end, it is important for you to know
that as a visitor to our precious Pine Barrens, you should show respect
for the flora and fauna, for the historical buildings or their remains,
and show respect for the "locals". Walk and drive gently. Treat
our Pine Barrens as you would want a visitor to treat your own home town
- and your own family. Thank you. |
